A former fisherman’s cottage tucked into the heart of Port Isaac, Waves End is a charming two-bedroom retreat just moments from the harbour. It suits a couple or a small family who want to be in among the lanes, cafés and sea air rather than up on the hill.

The ground floor is one open space with kitchen, dining and sitting area together, so everyone can be in the same room whether supper is on the go or you’re unwinding after a day on the coast. The kitchen has an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge and washer/dryer, making week-long stays easy to manage. At the front, the sitting area is simple and comfortable, with TV and Wi-Fi for quieter evenings in.

The shower room is also on the ground floor, with a walk-in shower, basin and WC. Upstairs you’ll find two light bedrooms: a double at the front and a bunk room that works well for children. Both have sash windows and glimpses of the village roofs and streets below, so you wake up to a sense of place straight away.

Step outside and you’re quickly down to the harbour, the beach at low tide, and the locations used as Portwenn in Doc Martin. The cottage sits within the old village, so you can walk to everything – pubs, cafés, fishmongers and the South West Coast Path – without needing the car. Longer-stay parking is available a walk away at the village car parks.

Waves End is a straightforward, well-positioned base for guests who would rather be in the thick of Port Isaac than driving up and down the hill every day.
