Breakwater Holidays was established in 2004 by its original directors, who identified the need for a company catering to the holiday rental market in Bude and Widemouth Bay. They wanted to demonstrate that, with attention to detail in terms of furnishings and decor, properties in these areas could be just as popular as more established destinations in Devon and Cornwall. Their mission was a resounding success, as guests from far and wide flocked to visit their portfolio of beautiful properties.
In 2009, two dedicated employees took over the company and nurtured it with a personal, hands-on approach for over a decade. In 2019, they made the strategic decision to outsource property management to a local company called South West Domestics, allowing them to focus on marketing in an ever-growing digital landscape.
After a lengthy period of successful collaboration between Breakwater Holidays and South West Domestics, the opportunity to acquire the company was presented to me. Considering the numerous requests from South West Domestics' clients to handle their property marketing alongside management, I saw it as the perfect chance to establish a comprehensive, fully managed service delivered by a dedicated team.
This way, property owners and guests can experience the benefits of a truly integrated approach, supported by local professionals who understand the needs of property owners, guests, and the communities we operate in.
We maintain a strong commitment to minimising our impact on local residents and businesses, fostering positive local relationships as much as possible.
In July 2022, my team and I took the reins of Breakwater Holidays. Since then, we have been working tirelessly to enhance all aspects of our service, particularly by modernising our digital marketing while preserving the core values our existing customers cherish.
